Bring the following recyclable items to your RTA class to get points...the class with the most points will win.

Cans and Bottles (Plastic or Glass) — 2 points each

Chip Bags, Juice pouches (Capri Sun, Kool Aid, etc.),
Candy Wrappers, Elmer’s Glue (bottle or stick), Cereal Bags, Cookie Packaging (including insides), Solo Drink Cups, Gum Wrappers—1 point each

Candy Wrappers include: Milky Way, Snickers, Dove, M&Ms, 3 Musketeers, Skittles, Starburst, Twix, Cadbury (has to say MARS/WRIGLEY/CADBURY as the maker of the candy bar)



The contest ends Thursday, October 27th

· During the week of March 7-11 a representative will present the Air Aware Contest to students during both lunches...in room B8 1st lunch and E1 2nd lunch.
· Friday, March 18th students must return signed entry forms to Ms. Davis to participate
· During week of March 21-25 participating students will receive their 7 day bus pass, ride guide, and a map
· Please submit your artwork to Ms. Davis by April 11.
Students must submit original art work to their teacher describing their experience and the benefits of the RTA eco-friendly buses to our community and the environment. 

 Your Air Aware Contest entry should adhere to the following limits: 
•       Digital Images: Up to 3 images (jpeg, gif or png), no larger than 10 MB each.  Prints should be no larger than 24”x36”
•       Video: Submit as .avi, .mpg, .mpg4 or .wmv, no larger than 30 MB, 1 minute max.
•       Audio: Submit as mp3, no larger than 7 MB, 2 minute max.  Original music only will be accepted.  Printed lyrics shall be sent with entry.
•       Original artwork: paintings, sketches, drawings no larger than 24”x36”
•       Sculpture: no larger than 2’x2’

Please note that a submission can be disqualified if it includes words or imagery: 
  1.That are sexually charged or suggestive,
  2.That depict acts of violence or cruelty,
  3.That attack or disparage or present in a false light any individual or group
  4.That are otherwise vile, nasty or otherwise un-cool, 
  5.That make false performance claims about RTA, or
  6.That use the likeness, words or other intellectual property of a celebrity (for 
example, a movie star or rock star) without appropriate permission to do so.

Tell us how RTA eco-friendly buses have enhanced your life. Your submission may include photographic image(s), original artwork, animation, sculpture, or original audio or video that creatively describes your experience on the bus and the advantages of using RTA buses. If you want to film on the bus, get permission first. Downloaded music used as soundtracks in video or audio submissions are probably copyright protected so don’t use them without written permission.

First Place Winner will receive a $250 gift certificate to the Moreno Valley Mall

CREEC Environmental Art Contest & Exhibition
 
All art must pertain to earth or earth related issues.
3 CATEGORIES: Artwork must be accompanied by a few sentences explaining the project.
I. ENVIRONMENTAL ART: Addresses issues of relationships of humans and the
environment, and suggests solutions.
II. RECYCLE ART: Made of recycled materials – may include environmentally friendly
markers, paint, and glues.
III. PHOTO ESSAY: Must be accompanied by a brief explanation.

One $50 gift card prize will be awarded for Best Submission at each grade level from Pre-K  through grade 12, and at the adult level too. 

Also one $50 gift card prize will be awarded for Best group collaboration, Best Environmental Art, Best Recycle Art & Best Photo Essay, and if enough of the general public come to see the show at the S.C.R.A.P. Gallery, we will have a new category: Public Choice award. And we have a few runners-up prizes this year too! Of course the real reward is intrinsic, so participating can be valuable & fun no matter if an entry wins or not!

This can include plastic bottles, aluminum cans or glass, just please make sure the container is empty of fluid and waste.

Please make sure the chip bags, wrappers and juice pouches are empty and flattened, with the straw removed and no liquid in the pouch. Any chip bags (any size, any brand) will be recycled, any juice pouches (Kool Aid, Capri Sun, etc.) and the brands of candy wrappers that can be recycled include any made by M&Ms/Mars or Cadbury…some examples include: M&Ms, Snickers, 3 Musketeers, Dove, Mars, Milky Way, Munch, Skittles, Sour Patch, Swedish Fish, Starburst, Twix, and anything with the Mars/Wrigley or Cadbury logo on the label.



The contest ends April 22nd, Earth Day.

We believe that school is a safe place for kids to be.  We are proactive in providing safety information and encourage open discussion among students, parents, staff and community members.  With heightened concerns in Moreno Valley at the beginning of this school year, we will be emphasizing safety tips to all students during the first few days of school, as well as increasing police and security patrols around our school sites.
